We get questions about first aid training

that are asked from time to time. We thought it’s a good idea to combine the most asked questions in one blog to help you prepare in advance for your first aid class.

Here are the most commonly asked questions we have received that will give you a background on first aid training.

1. What do I learn in a First Aid Training Course?

In a first aid training class, you will be taught the essential skills to assist in a medical emergency. The lessons will be given in a mix of both hands-on training as well as theory to study. You will learn how to deal with emergencies, CPR and AED use, basic life support, managing burns, choking, wound care, and much more.

2. How long does an Australian First Aid Certificate valid?

o Provide first aid comes with approved certification is valid for three (3) years from the date of issue

o CPR certificate is valid for twelve (12) months from the date of issue.

o Provide an Emergency First Aid Response in an Education and Care Setting is valid for three (3) years from the date of issue

o Low Voltage rescue including CPR is valid for twelve (12) months from the date of issue

3. Do I need annual refresher training?

For the CPR component, the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) strongly recommend a refresher course every year.

Refreshing the skills and knowledge on a regular basis will help maintain the basic skills and keep up to date with important updates.

4. What is a USI and do I need to have one?

USI is a requirement set by the Australian Government that ALL course participants should provide a 10-digit Unique Student Identifier. If you don’t have your USI number yet, create one for free https://www.usi.gov.au/students/create-usi.

5. When do I receive my first aid certificate?

Once you participate and complete all the instructions successfully, you will receive a first aid certificate. The certificate comes as a PDF emailed to you the same day. There are certain circumstances where certificates will be emailed the next business day (e.g. weekend course).

6. Are the courses fully accredited?

Completing a first aid course with First Aid Pro will earn you an Official Certificate of Attendance (with specific courses) and a nationally recognised, fully accredited Statement of Attainment.

7. How will I be assessed?

First Aid Pro offers a hands-on approach to training with progressive assessment throughout the course. This may include written/oral assessments, practical and role play demo, and an incident report form. There is no online workbook or ebook learning to ensure the integrity of our assessment process.

8. Can you tailor a course to meet specific Industry Standards?

Corporate first aid courses can be designed to suit your or your company’s needs. We pride ourselves on being able to adjust our courses to cover all your required industry standards.

9. Can we conduct first aid training in the workplace?

YES. Our experienced trainers can conduct on-site or your preferred location during the day, evening, or on the weekends. We also held our first aid courses at our fully equipped training venues on a regular basis.

10. How do I book into one of the courses?
